Musician first
Curious by nature

My name is Luis de Santiago Pinto, and I'm a composer, producer, arranger, keyboardist and sound engineer based in Portugal. My career spans live performance, since I was a young kid, to record production and music for media, with a hands-on approach to both the creative and technical sides of sound.

As co-owner and Technical Director of Sonic State Studios, I worked at the heart of Portuguese music production for about a decade and my work includes multiple Platinum & Gold certified releases. Today, I bring that background depth to composition and new collaborations in music and audio technology.

In 2014 I started composing and producing Music-for-Media / Production-Music and since 2016, I’ve been working mainly with Pond5 under the pseudonym Deo Strozza. It’s a continuation of the same craft: composition, arrangement, production, and sound engineering shaped around the needs of storytelling.

My undeniable curiosity and fascination with new technologies applied to music and sound led me to become interested in helping music and audio AI teams evaluate what their systems produce and understand what a musician / producer / sound engineer hears.
A Generative Model can produce audio that is technically plausible without necessarily being musically convincing.

Composition, harmony, melody, phrasing, arrangement and musical coherence. Assessing how the structure works in music, and whether the result serves its intent.

Critical listening

Comparative listening, audio quality assessment and artefact detection, informed by years of music production, recording, editing, mixing and mastering.

Context & understanding

Music description, tagging and brief adherence. Connecting what a system identifies with the musical context and what a listener actually perceives.

I'm open primarily to remote freelance, consulting, project-based and other relevant opportunities in Music & Audio AI Evaluation, Generative Music, Music Intelligence, Music & Audio Dataset Curation, Quality Assessment and related RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) & HITL (Human-in-the-Loop) work.
